| | Small Bikes Provide Big Excitement at August Outing |

| | Who’d have thought some of the smallest bikes on the track could over so much excitement? Those who saw the Apex Predator 125 Grand Prix race in August found themselves watching a real nail biter. Often derided by big bore riders as running on rubberbands or via hamster wheels, these remarkable machines showed that they could provide excitement as brash as any class at the track. Three racers, Kevin Murray (# 742), Jay Pilster (#422) and Britt Arechiga (#182) were locked in a non-stop battle, often rounding corners three abreast for added excitement. In the early running it was Murray of Vista who seemed to have the edge, but in traffic, Newport Beach based Pilster made his move around Kevin to take the lead away. Not willing to give an inch to competitors, San Diegan Britt Arechiga (known as Britt Bohannan prior to her marriage to fellow WSMC racer Mark Arechiga), continued to press on through traffic and held her own against very tough competition. As they received the checkered, Pilster edged out class points leader Kevin Murray while Arechiga took 3rd. Clint Solomon (#179) of Reseda took 4th place, James Wilberger (#746) of Santa Barbara earned 5th and Brian Heess (#213) of Palmdale earned 6th place points. Rounding out the competition were Joel Manes (#79) of Oak Park and newly elevated from novice racing # 551, Nick Ramchandani of Northridge. Thanks. It was fun watching! |
